could anyone tell me how to subtract the number of soffit boards (16ft long 300mm wide) needed for various size batten boards.

Answers:    typcially what you do is give somebody a lift the length of the nouns to be covered and multiply it by the width to gain your total square footage of area. Once to be exact known your simply divide it by the amount of square foot the product you are interested in comes surrounded by. i.e., standard 4x8 sheet of plywood is 32 s.f.

measure all along where you want to place the soffit board contained by feet.

if the boards come surrounded by 16ft lengths simply divide the total length of board neded by 16ft

eg if total length required is 48ft after 48/16 = 3 boards needed.
