Answers:    If you research generator online you will come across charts that help you figure out how much power you will requirement from one. An air conditioner sucks a heck of a lot of liquid, and that will be the major factor in the size of any generator.

Generators are also loud and they are powered by gasoline or some other fuel which you enjoy to supply. I have never heard of anyone buying a generator to unsophisticatedly run an air conditioner, but I guess it could happen. I'm not sure if the power produced is consistent satisfactory to not burn out an air conditioning unit, and possibly someone else here will have that knowledge for you.

Capacity of the generator you involve is dependent on the BTU rating of your air conditioner. Other items are very minor and insignificant. As an example, if you enjoy a 10,000 BTU air conditioner, absolute minimum generator would be in the region of 3kw rating. I prefer Honda generators. They are reliable and seem to run quieter than other brands.
