How much thermite would it take to burn through, say, a foot of concrete? I'm planning to set it within forms of packed earth and brick.
Answers: It won't work. Thermite is used to generate bursts of grill, which can be used to weld with, but not to burn through concrete.
This is very death-defying stuff, the sale of which is controlled. As you are a novice, you wouldn't want to experiment next to it, even if you could get it.
Coincidentally, it is also used for pyrotechnics in fireworks.
NEVER,EVER apply interested flame or heat to concrete! It will blow up in your facade! Try sticking a cutting torch to it,if you don't beleive me!
Sounds like you have need of a concrete saw to score the opening and a jackhammer to remove the things. Some things just ain't easy ! Ummmm Except for similar to maybe a high powered laser or something You can't burn a hole surrounded by concrete.lol Especially if its a foot thick. And there is bound to be rebar within there anyways
