I live in West Va. Just moved here a year ago. I see alot of nation burning their own leaves and small sticks. Does anyone know if I can burn leaves in anything, similar to a metal trash can? or a hole that is low, of course I would verbs it? If you know the rules or if you do this your self then please tolerate me know.
Thanks for your time!!
Answers: Live in WV myself restriction is after 4 and weekends and yes you can burn leaves contained by can or pit. or on open ground. a moment ago have hose hard by buy in Berkeley county if a fire get out of hand and you dont own one handy the will fine you for not having preventive measures. most neighborhoods close to mine we have well and no access for fire dept. for water so other have hose handy. also raining your stick and leaves a little bit to hang on to hot ash from going up.
I'm in Michigan, so it may not apply, but I, and copious others, burn leaves and twigs right on the ground. (in a spot that doesn't affect grass growth of course. A burning firkin is common too, a 50 gallon metal container. The hole in the ground seem like a potential menace to me.
