There are black cigarrette burn marks on my light wood table. Does anyone hold any tips on how to remove these? Thank you your help is very much appreciated
http://www.associatedcontent.com/article... I would actually expect you could sand it down, and restain / revarnish to match the rest of the table.
If it is a pallid colored table like pine or something to that effect and you got a black burn mark(and you want it out) You are going to own to sand down the table finish (if it has a glossy finish on it) to the wood and next sand into the wood until the burn is gone. Then the table is ready for refinishing. Do not leave the table as unclothed wood. You would be amazed how quickly it can get dirty. So, yeah from consequently on SHOOT anybody who smokes or puts a hot pot on the table because of all the work. Before trying to sand the table, try rubbing the marks near steel wool (from a hardware store, not the soap type). Often this will remove the marks without cause "dips" in the surface or needing to rehash the whole top of the table.
Answers:    Meredith you can walk to any hardware store Homedepot or Walmart and buy 2 sheets of 120 and 220 grit sand paper. Sand your burn marks beside the 120 grit, and bring it back smooth with the 220 grit sand weekly. Buy 1/2 pint Polyshade made by Minwax, and 1 inch paint brush. The polyshade has color on can so you can pick color closest to your table. At Walmart the items you need will come below 10.00. It will take about 2 hours to sand table depending on size. You can do it.

Good Luck to You
The only means of access to fix it is to sand it down and refinish it. It must be a real wood table. buy a new table, it's close to trying to uncook an egg.
