I plan on buying a tarp made for hockey rinks...40x60' =90$...and a bunch of 2x4x10s ($10/piece) to build the border. ill drill the boards to they can be screwed together. my give somebody the third degree is,, will the wood be able to hold surrounded by the water? the tarp will be in motion in and overlap where on earth i will nailgun the plastic in place. do i entail spikes to brace the wood, or will the wood structure hold up? ps first rink. yard is flat(ish) exceedingly little slope
your going to need to install braces unless you sink the boards into the ground.
not sure if the wood will hold contained by the water, but here is another alternative to building one yourself. Check this site out, its an rime and go rink. You a moment ago flip out the contraption, very assured, and fill next to water. At the closing stages of the year you store it away for next year instead of other having to purloin all the wood apart.
Good luck beside your rink!

Answers: your idea sounds ok but put a few stakes around the outside boundary to keep the form from bowing...why ruin the tarp near nails or staples...the wet will hold it in place...
