Answers:    Try VM&P Naphtha it will remove some types of oil from wood. Put some on a cloth and rub where the stain is. Let it dry and see if it works. Next best hting would be to sand it down

I have a similar experience with an old oak table. I done up sanding the top (rotary or palm sander) until the stain was gone and consequently put on about ten coats of polyurethane.
