somehow our toilet overflowed and I used the plunger to get the clog out. It be just toilet composition (our toilet must be a real piece of crap, no pun intended). so do I close to flush it or what? it already overflowed onto our floor and i just get that cleaned up so i don't wanna risk anything.
Answers: Take the lid off the reservoir before flushing it. There is a floating device that rises and sinks with the hose down level. If the toilet begin to overflow, pull that workings up. That will stop the flow of water until it's released again. Make sure somebody is next to you, or you'll be stuck holding it until help arrives, or you'll risk overflow.

EDIT: Somebody recommended plunging it like lightning when you think it's just about to overflow, but the problem is, when you put a plunger in the toilet, undoubtedly, it will only mete out the water rank to rise even more.
use a bucket and pour water into the toilet slowly. as the sea begins to rise, it will commence to flush. stop pouring water within. if the level go down, then you are probably locked to flush. if it stays the same or begin to rise, then you'll requirement to plunge some more and repeat the process. if the water horizontal is already high (more than partially full) then it's still clogged up and if you flush it's going to overflow again. plunge until the river level go down and try the bucket thing.
