does anyone know if it's legal to put an a/c in the put a bet on window of my truck
HVAC Tech.: YES you can. But it wont minister to a lot. Some professionals I know have stuck them within the rear windows of vans. They spawn Inverters that can give you over 5000 watts of power. You only hold to match the power supply to the a/c. There are also ac generators that will run past its sell-by date your battery. The average under the hood a/c is around 4 ton, the average skylight unit (that would fit) is going to be less than 1/2 ton. Not recommended unless you are going to set still for long period of time and can plug in to 120volt outlet. a bk window is not a gd opinion, because of safty/health issues. now a a/c unit sold for small campers & mounted on minicab roof has been done here contained by ohio. visit an rv dealer & verbalize to a person that can answer ALL yr ?'s and not just supply the units.
as said before, have your side mirrors available, is a definite must. However what i would have to consider here, is the amount of current you will be using, to operate the AC part.

most DC to AC inverters are good for 1200 to 1500 watts of continuous power, generally designed for low current equipment; TV, VCR, DVD, laptop and so forth. Although an AC component can draw about 5 to 7 amps if not more. This would equate to in the region of 600 to 840 watts of power that would be seriously draining your battery down. The implications could be serious, and also put a burden on your alternator. I wouldn't recommend this, as this could impose you more serious problems with your vehicle. Also be aware that your inverter may have the skill to handle the current, however your vehicle wiring may not.
Answers:    As long as you have side mirrors that you can see out of it is lawful. You must be able to see behind your vehicle contained by at least on place.
Are you serious? If you do this, please take a picture. That would particularly be worth circulating. LOL Are you a redneck from West Virginia!
