If I wanted to build a house, of about 4000 sq foot, 5drms, 2 livingrooms, 3.5 baths, with stone and siding, plenty of windows (but not bearing too many) ...maybe even and indoor pool...hardwood floors and carpet.almost how much do you think it would cost?
Please answer only if you own experience in construction/building and you have a credible number, rather than just adage "a lot".
about 500,000 to 1,000,000 depending on where on earth u live
Greatly depends on where you live. In my nouns, the average home 2500-3500sqf. is between $50 and $75 per sqf. not including the lot(land). This is for good quality materials, but not marble floors, rock walls $500.00 faucets and fixtures. Outdoor pools are $30.000-$40.000 higher than that, indoor could be double. Keep in mind labor is half the cost of building, california $150-$300 per hr per personality, arkansas $10-$30 per hr per person. Choose your material judiciously depending on you location. Don't use western red cedar siding if you live in south florida. If you have family(that you trust) within the construction buisness, plummer, electrician or other, call in some favors you can gather thousands. Don't be afraid to barter with your suppliers, they expect it. Suppliers also like ample package deals and bestow better discounts and service for large orders. Hopes this help, if you have any more questions you can email to greglochridge(a)yahoo.com New home construction vary by where you live but the rate is around $115 a square foot so you are looking at about $460,000 i.e. just for the home though you will also have to by the stop and that varies greatly depending on the location
Answers: Like everything else it depends on trim level. If you want to get complicated you can easily spend 50 to 100 thousand on just the kitchen.
But surrounded by your area (if you already own the land) an average house can run as low as $75 per square foot if you are willing to do greatly of the work and contract the house yourself.
I contract all of my building projects and when building, forget about free weekends. You will be surprised what the loose ends a standard contractor has to pick up because something was not written into a contract. But if you can button this, you can save 30 to 60 thousand dollars on a project your size.
