We need to repeat our kitchen countertops. It's laminate now. A friend vote that granite is very filmy and cracks easily. Because we are a intensely active relations with children, I guess granite won't work at my home. I be wondering about silestones or perchance corian. Any opinions?
Answers: Granite is not ethereal at all - your friend is probably thinking of marble. We've have our granite slab countertops for 6 years now and they still look shiny and strange as the day they be set. You'll dull your knife beforehand you'll scratch the stone - the one and only drawback is that glasses hold a tendency to break when they plunge on them because,well, it's a rock. Corian and the resembling are losing their favor because they are higher preservation than granite no matter what the salespeople bring up to date you. You can't put a hot pot/pan on Corian or it'll burn, you can't cut anything on it or it'll scratch - it's simply not practical for a busy house and it costs a fortune to repair. For the same price, be in motion for the granite - you won't be disappointed!!
Don't use Corian or other artificial materials. They are expensive and in some cases similar surrounded by price to granite. Granites stone tops are beautiful, durable and confident to maintain. They come within different patterns and colors. Be sure to use a virtuous installer who knows the fabric and the installation.
In my experience I see that Corian can be break with steam or movements in the cabinet.
