Wood or Bamboo? I am planning on putting in tentative flooring on the main floor....

I am planning on putting in tentative flooring on the main floor. I be thinking of wood and then saw wicker. I know bamboo is better for the environment. I enjoy pets and need durable hopefully sooner scratch free. I would love input from society with experience near both or either.

Answers:    Wood. Bamboo is currently popular but may not be surrounded by a few years. The better bamboo is of late as durable as wood because it is compressed to harden it. The cheaper stuff is not. Because of the finish used both own the same support requirements. The claim that bamboo is more environmentally friendly could be debate. Yes it grows quickly, but most is not farm it is being harvest from wild stocks to clear the parkland.
I spent more than 20 yr. owning a janitorial srvice cleaning wood floors. My favorite, especially for a lighter colored floor is Maple.
