i'd really like to paint my small bedroom's walls a pitch-black cobalt blue, dark purple, or night chocolate brown because those are the colors that relax me and i feel they'd engender the room more intimate and sophisticated (my furniture/etc. is modern, clean lines, etc.). i'm wondering if these colors will visually recede or if they would spawn it seem resembling a tiny cave. what are your opinion? thanks within advance.
Answers: According to Kristan Cunningham of The Rachael Ray Show & HGTV's "Design On A Dime," foggy colors in small room do cause the walls appear to recede. Watch the video from this link & see how much better the rooms look next to the darker colors:

I have an idea that I would go near the dark purple. Sounds rich & unusual.
dark purple more suitable..
