How cheap? We go to places like 99 cent flooring and lumber liquidators a local store. I bought engineered wood. I bought builders category ... you have to buy fifteen percent more as some pieces are shabby. Still we got it for 2.89 instead of 6.00 a sqaure foot. Then we bargain and got the fifteen percent free. I found a cheap installer who did a well-mannered job at around 1.50 or 90 a square foot I can't remember. I found some good prices on the internet also http://www.simplefloors.com If would basically go ahead and spend the extra on actual wood. You can bargain and find cheap stuff that looks nice. However, if you hold pets you may need durability. Any nice laminate that may look anything similar to wood is more expensive after real wood. I found a nice laminate (decent laminate) for close to 3.89 a sqare foot. I paid alot smaller quantity that for my wood floors.

If you are looking for something durable though I guess I would go near laminate. No matter what you want on I would look at some large local shops. Not the fancy ones, but the warehouse wholesale form. If you go to the fancy ones look for the clearance floors. The fancy ones be almost twice as much for the very same piece though.
