Answers:    It depends on how big the chair guiderail is. If it is at traditional height (36-42"), consequently I generally do the dark color on the bottom. This is because darker colors enjoy more visual solidity and it keeps the room grounded. If the guiderail is higher, resembling at transom height (7' or so), afterwards you may want to reverse it. A darker color on top, close at hand the ceiling, will bring the ceiling down visually. If you have a dignified ceiling, and want to cozy up the room, this is how you can accomplish that.
