I am hanging Ceramic tile within the kitchen and there is antiquated thick Thin-Set that be behind the behind the times tile I took down. Do I sand as much of it away or can I just apply more Thin Set and suspend away?
Answers:    Remove as much of it as possible. Wipe it down to remove any debris and dust.

You'll want to head off as little as possible, because if you don't, then the bond of the unusual tiles will only be as angelic as the old thinset.
I would run some mortar, and skim coat over all the prehistoric thin-set creating a nice smooth surface to work with. It is true, you will necessitate a smooth surface to work with, or you will be conflict lippage the entire time. Lippage is when one tile is not flush with the tile subsequent to it.
