Is it neccesary to prime the walls first?
If so, what kind of primer paint should be used?

Thanks. [:
Answers:    If the drywall or plaster is hot, prime. If you have antediluvian paint, thin it (with dampen for latex, mineral spirits for oil based), and use it up. The primer will really soak into the different surface. You might even give 2 coats, since the primer is exceptionally cheap and paint is more expensive.

If there be a smoker in the room prime the room near Kilz.

If there be ink on the wall, prime the inked area beside Kilz.

Anything that bleeds through paint can be quieted with a coat of Kilz. But remember Kilz (white shellac) take a long time to dry.

If there be mildew/mold (as in a bathroom), scrub beside bleach, let dry, Kilz it, next put mildew inhibitor in the topical paint (Make the store shake mix that stuff; you'll never stir it in suitably.)

If none of the above, just paint over the existing paint after wadding all holes and scrape or sanding bad any old drips. Paint the ceiling first, trim second, and consequently cut out from both and paint the walls.

You almost always entail 2 coats for good coverage. 1/2 hour of drying is sufficient in the past applying the second coat in most cases (10 minutes can be plenty sometimes).
I think you should if you have a darker color on first or you are doing a bathroom or kitchen. I use Kills 2 on my walls and it works great I a moment ago did a room last weekend
