Things lower than a pound, or two, can be hung, anywhere, with simply a pin. When you get to mirrors or sizeable frames you're going to need some type of wall anchor. Go to a Mom & Pop hardware store and explain what you want to swing. There are many available. Some you can a short time ago pound into the wall. Others, you will need a drill.
