What's the best course to paint a stained ceiling?

First, remove the stain with cleaning agents, afterwards match the color of the resourceful ceiling.

FIRST repair the leak to be exact CAUSING the stain. Then ensure that the area is cleaned beside an anti-mold / anti-fungal.

If it's wall-board or gypsum... I'd then prime / stamp it with a pious alkayi primer.

Then it should be just polite old latex paint resembling normal.

If you OWN the home, I'd REALLY look at pulling the ceiling down... marine damage could be rotting the joist.

GOOD LUCK
Answers:    Make sure that the stain isn't caused by something explicitly going to happen again after you enjoy painted (eg a leak). Then spray with a stain block (I simply paid give or take a few lb3 for a can from Screwfix), or paint the whole ceiling near a sealant (like diluted PVA) before attempting to paint the ceiling again, or the stain will come through, even if it is an behind the times one.

I found the stain block spray a lot easier, and enjoy tried both methods.
