I had to own carpets within 3 rooms taken out due to stains. Underneath, are some nice mahogany wood floors. Only; there is white paint covering closely of the area(s). Also, there is dated tar-looking adhesive within dining room. I don't really have the money to recarpet (laid off). But, I don't know if trying to roughly sand (rent one?) or if my small sander would do anything. Any philosophy are welcome. I know, the nude ugly floors are gonna obtain on my nerves. Even if I gather thinking for when things improve. Thanks.
Hardwood floors are a MAJOR investment. Please don't consider them an expense. I get that you can't afford to have them recarpeted right immediately but if you try and sand those floors down yourself, you really have to study up first and know what you're doing, because you may risk ruining your floor. It's fundamentally hard to sand a floor near even pressure, which needs to be done to preserve the floors.
Try first scrape the paint and the black gluey stuff (from a carpet self glued on). Use a flat scraper blade.
I know you may find it thorny to wait what near the ugly floors, but you really should since nice mahogony floors will web you a good profit the hours of daylight you wish to or want to or call for to sell your home..... Is here no one you know that know how to sand floors and is need of a service you hold to offer? You could exchange services...
I am so envious! I only own hard wood within the living room. They are definitely worth refinishing!!! It would lug you forever to sand them yourself, and if you don't know what you are doing, you can easily blight them if you put a big industrial sander on them. I would bite the bullet and pay to hold them professionally refinished.
For now, you could put an inexpensive nouns rug or carpet REMNANT down until you own the money to do it right. When it comes to your home, you shouldn't cut corners on things like flooring. After you go and get them refinished, purchase a nice area rug to cover them a touch just to own the comfort of carpet short hiding those beautiful floors!!!!

Answers: I would stir with wood, however, I wouldn't try to refinish it myself. Like someone else said, cover it near a carpet remnant (if you don't enjoy people over regularly, the uglier stuff is usually cheaper) until you can afford for someone to professionally finish it for you.
Wood flooring increases the selling price of your home up to 6%--but if you do it yourself and do a bad profession of it, it could reflect within the price (not that you would necessarily do a bad chore, but why risk it?).
Really though, according to DIY's website, (and Oprah's) recarpeting isn't as expensive as you might think--you should check it out to make sure though.
As a side information, professionals that are good at what they do can craft a patchwork of pieces look like the adjectives room was done near one piece.
If you've get plenty of time on your hands you can sand a floor down near a hand sander. I'd unambiguously invest in some really appropriate knee pad though. As far the adhesive, mineral spirits will probably lug that off, simply make sure you've get plenty of ventilation and NO SMOKING. If you rent a sander, I'd suggest the vibrate one instead of the drum sander, it's much easier to dig a gouge surrounded by your floor with the drum sander.
