My bedroom is not very big, but I have plenty room to design a bit. I was wondering what type of paint for the walls, possible art, posters, etc. may go in good health with a red rug. I cannot change the rug because we are renting the house, but I want to re-do my room. I'm 21, I love vintage picture, and I was thinking simplicity but a "wow" effect. Please help.

A decorator's judgment on my nursery please?
I love it too...you can do a rich, thoughtful, but not too dark purple on the wall. Lots of pillows in soft and silky texture. think velvet and silk...tassles. Round pillows, square pillows... Get a cheap chandalier type lamp- to either swing from the ceiling over your bed or you can by table lamps that look like one. Find mature prints to hang on the wall of people or magazine from old hollywood, old advertisement...you can look online and color print them and frame them- try going to garage sales and thrift shops to pick up items. Look for guilded mirrors and the old brush and mirror sets. Do curtains that are textured or veined. With red carpet (and I love red carpet) you can do colors like purple, black, whites, pinks...so don't be afraid to use bright colors as okay. You can get a throw rug to put over it to cut down on the red.
