i want to give my room a complete makeover... it isnt that big... i have a queen bed... desk..computer..scanner... built within wardrobe with mirrors uhmm i have a bed side table... at the moment the walls are adjectives white... and well thats about it... any concept will help... i kind of close to the sofisticated/vintage look... but please any ideas/tips etc
Answers: First, go to thrift stores, flea markets and garage sale and find vintage pictures in vintage frames, a vintage mirror, a vintage looking lamp, or lamp, throw pillows, and a rug to put by your bed or in front of something else, like a stool. You can also pick up any other decorations like doilies, old dresser sets, antediluvian dolls or bears, whatever suits your fancy. Go to Penney's, Linens & Things or Bed, Bath & Beyond to find vintage looking curtains/drapes and quilt.
Last, buy paint to coordinate with your color coordinated purchases, and paint your walls. Choose a warm, muted color for three of the walls, and an elocution color for one wall.
Don't get too hung up on details,. Decorate according to what you like (as dead set against what someone else might like), and have fun!
Here are a few pointers: Don't hang pictures too elevated. Don't be afraid to hang a few quite close together contained by a pleasing grouping. Grouping is very important within all decorating, as ably as what is grouped and how they are grouped. The sizes and shapes should vary. Also, try to steer clear of a lot of small items, and shift with a few larger pictures and other decorative items. You may want to include a shadow box containing clan heirlooms. There are so many possibilities such as pretty candlesticks, a flower arrangement, etc. and other ideas you will come across when you are shopping. Enjoy!
heighten the parts of the room that look good and downplay the parts that look blah. consider installing sconces since you said you like sophisticated. consider a sateen comforter and complementary pillows. you can find these at "bed, tub an beyond" (store). create a table cloth for the bedside table if it's boring. use a different type of sateen.
