I have painted some wooden doors next to emulsion to match the walls. What should I paint over the top to stamp them to stop them getting fingerprints/dirty as emulsion can't be wiped down? I own used satin varnish in former times but the finish was blotchy. Can you get hold of clear gloss paint?
Answers: You have need of the weakest water base varnish there is. Polyvine. It is expensive and it comes contained by satin, gloss and I can't remember if it comes within matt, but we use it for protecting wallpaper. It will still leave a sheen and it not terrifically strong, but it is the only opportunity.
Anything else will burn into your emulsion (which is not for wood anyway)
,you shouldnt really use emulsion on wood as it is water base , however you could try acrylic clear varnish which could work , if you do that it would have be the same cost as using correct type of paint within the first place
