I just bought a house that have a a large brick fireplace that take up most of one of the walls . The previous owners painted it gloss white! It also have two shelves on both sides that are white as well. I want to swing the brick but have no hypothesis what to do. Someone suggested glazing it, any suggestions would help! (the walls are painted a night light tan and the floor is flimsy wood)
Answers:    Boy, what an opportunity.
Look into Wood Faux Paux.

There are ways to make that look resembling wood grain.
With sunburn walls and wood floor, you could make that look great.

Why don't you merely choose an accent color from your room and paint it (and the shelves) that color. A low sage green, coral or cinnamon, or a nice shade of brown may inexpensively change the together look. Also adding a nice art piece above will work wonders.
