We have vouncil plans approved for renovation on our home - it is an extension - living room, bathroom and internal stairs - to be built underneath exisitng horizontal. We dont know any builders and dont know who to call to bring this job started. The council have said we need to attain a construction certificate. Do I ring up a builder? carpenter? Can anyone tell me what category I should be questioning for in the directories?

Answers:    Call an Building Engineer. Make sure they are licensed near your state. Check their licenses. You can do this online.
If you don't get hold of an engineer for this project i.e. licensed, you're going to have problems. A builder can build anything you want. Do you have an Architect? Do your homework past hiring any one.
