i have to research going on for this style of furniture but can only find retail dealer selling it. can anyone provide any facts/links? thanks.
Answers: I believe you are discussion about what is call "rustico" furniture.
It most often comes from Mexico. Generally you are going to see pieces made of pine, weakly finished, and distressed to a great degree. In certainty, the pieces can have huge cracks within them, rusty hingest, and knots. The belief is for it to look largely unfinished.
When I worked for a immense furniture retailer, we used to actually communicate customers: "this furniture is guaranteed to crack, split, and squeak." Nearly every piece is unique because of the knot and cracking.
The advantage, as expected, is that it looks that way whether you give somebody a lift good thought of it or abuse it. This make it ideal if you enjoy kids or pets that are hard on furniture. Additionally, it fits right surrounded by with any sort of rustic look. Finally, it is solid pine, so at hand are no worries about mdf, plywood, or any other "fake" wood.
Disadvantages are that it is going to crack and split. If you buy a trunk, for instance, it may not other hold what you want it to because of the holes. Additionally, the hingest creak and the latches don't other line up because of the rustic personality.
