My wife has a 6'X6' stride in closet and it holds her clothes tastefully. So it works for 1 person, but she uses the winter closet for her off-season clothes. 6X6 will endow with you 12 linear feet of slack space some area on the floor and space above the hanger. By going 2' longer you will get 16 linear foot of hanging space. I would travel with 6X10 to some extent than 8X8 because I think you will procure more usable space.

Decent size...6'x8'. Better...9'x10' Best...bigger than what you have clothes and shoes for.
