I'm redoing a room within my house and I have no view what paint I should use.
Though this is a big house, my husband and I are really the only ones that use this fastidious living room. Its in an enclosure to the house and isn't high traffic.
We also live within New Orleans which means its a giant humidity zone and I need something that is to say mold and mildew resistant.
I know there are wet based paints that enjoy what I'm looking for but I keep audible range about the benefits of have oil base on a house.
Can you help?
If you use oil base paint inside, you will get really sick from the fumes unless you really hold good airing. Latex is safer for you.
latex(water based) paint next to a sheen of at least egg shell or sophisticated and a mildew resistant additive.
Or try "bathroom paint". It have a semi-gloss to a glossy sheen and is guarunteed for 5yrs not to grow mold.
Oil base paint will not inhibit mold growth.
Answers: There are abundant to choose from, the best in your casing would be latex paint with a mildew inhibitor added. You mostly use oil base paints on wood not drywall, so if your painting wood work use grease, if it's the walls use latex. Get a good brand similar to Benjamin Moore or Sherwin Williams, you can tell if it's a well brought-up paint by how thick it is, it make it easier to roll on and has smaller amount water to mildew.
