Last year I used scotch tape, it held pretty very well but there must be something better that won't spawn holes in my woodwork.
Answers:    Every year I find the manufacturer's hold invented new ways to put up and hold up lights and decorations. I explore places like Home Depot, Lowes, Kmart, Wal-Mart, etc. I don't buy the first entry I see. I look at what's available at several places, then I budge back for the best ones. One of my favorites are the 3M Command hooks that you stick up for the holidays, consequently pull bad cleanly after wards. They work fundamentally well.

My low-tech method is to drape tons of lights over the curtain rods. Another point I did was cut stars out of metallic gold ingots paper, stick it to the put money on of another one, with a string contained by between them, then a moment ago tape them at different length to the ceiling near the atmosphere vents. They verbs and catch the insubstantial in the sunshine, and reflect the inside lights at darkness. We all loved them so much we didn't appropriate them down for 6 years. We only took them down because we be moving.
those 'command' hooks are awesome. no nails, hold powerfully.
