I am debating whether to add a room complement above my garage or one next to the garage on the 1st story. There will be no plumbing, individual electrical work done. I live in the So Cal nouns.

Answers:    Depends entirely on how the existing structure was developed. If you hold to go contained by and rebuild the garage foundation and go back over roof trusses or rafters, it's unequivocally not going to be cheap. In some instances, it's cheaper to knock down the antediluvian garage and start over.
