we are moving to a house and the living room is very hulking the only furniture i own is a brown sectional from macys and a corner firer place with a plasma tv specifically currently sitting on top of it i enjoy a one year old son who loves to draw from in to things and is clumsy this is why i own not purchased a coffee table etc. so i would like to label my parlor look full and i know by using darker colors this can do the trick my lone dilemma is what dark color specifically not to dark should i use?
Answers: It depends on what nice of look you're going for. If you paint vertical stripes it'll make the room look taller vs. bigger around. And I'd recommend doing a chocolate brown and rotten white stripe. Unless you already have long window, hang your curtains closer to the ceiling vs. at the top of the pane. I love love love lighter blues with brown. Some greens are nice, but you hold to be careful just about it looking jungly with the brown. A philosophical red would be nice if you want a more modern look, but just be aware that sculpture walls red and repainting it later is a TON of work.
And as far as the coffee table go... an ottoman will do the trick. You can get a big square leather one surrounded by all different colors (Value City Furniture, man! Don't income ridiculous prices if you don't have to.) This will maintain your child from hitting his head. Leather grades and rips can be fixed easily and if something is spilled on the ottoman, no worries. Don't do suede.
Instead of only painting a solid color, you might try a wallpaper or a faux wall covering surrounded by a brick or stucco design. If that's out of your price range you could put paneling up 1/3 of the method up from the floor, cap near molding trim and paint or wallpaper above that. If you do use wallpaper in this bag, be sure you don't choose too busy of a design. The color is not a real issue here, as long as you stay away from colors that tend to clash near brown, such as grey or purple.
