What color would look best surrounded by my room, when adjectives the furniture is flimsy wood? I want to paint my room, right now it is only white...

I want to paint my room, right now it is only white and I hate it. I would similar to to paint it something creative like gold ingots or silver but I'm not sure which colors would work. (Probably not gold). I also don't want a black room even though that would probably look good. I am also not a big adherent of yellow, and I don't presume that that would work either. Please relief!
