What color wood floors would walk best?.? I am purchasing a home that has a elegant addition onto...

I am purchasing a home that has a elegant addition onto the kitchen making a huge kitchen greatroom grain. The cabinets are white (which I am going to antique). The counters will probably lapse up in the brownish nonpartisan zone (granite?). The flooring righ now is mostly pink carpeting that will be ripped out urgently. The ceiling in the greatroom nouns is a planked wood beam, (think church ceiling and pillars). We are planning on installing hardwood through our both rooms, but are at a loss as to what color. Because the ceiling is wood planks of a medium oak color, I am not sure if I should walk darker on the floor, lighter or try to contest it. I don't want a cabin effect. Does anyone hold any suggestions?? At this point my husband is not willing to paint the wood on the ceiling white as others hold suggested. I am in between...serve!
Answers:    ~ I would go next to a slightly darker floor. A Cherry tone would look really angelic.
Since your husband isn't fond of the thought of painting the ceiling white, I would suggest any slightly darker floors or same color floor as ceiling. I don't regard as it would look good to own lighter floors than your ceiling. Your ceiling should not be the darkest color in the room. It will touch slightly cavish. Good luck. It is a big expense, so make sure it is the right color earlier you commit.
