I have a wall near fire place on it that coud be an accent wall, but I am clueless when it comes to decorating as far as what colors walk best together etc. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

play around near the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find something that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I approaching how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color clan & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color scheme. You can literally spend hours:

I think a deep green approaching "oakmoss" (# 6180) is a great color for the living room. If you think that's too dark to use within the entire room, then maybe use that as your diction wall, and then paint the others "Dollop of Cream" (# 7120).
Answers: With black you have lots of option depending on the kind of mood you want to create in the room.
If you want a cool, sophisticated look be in motion with an icy blue or aqua and add elocution pillows, art, candles, area rug, etc. with some of that shade.
If you want drama, red works too.
If you want a heat up, cozy look, choose a soft sandy beige, taupe, cinnamon, or terracotta shade.
Sage would work too.
Sometimes it's best to start with an "inspiration piece" ... a textile or a pillow or a painting that you love and draw your colors from it.
Good luck!
P.S. I like the street lamp blue/aqua look myself. If you want to accent the fireplace wall, paint it a shade or two darker than the color you choose.
Paint your walls with bright color such as cream, bright brown. Sounds approaching you have a Gothic Renaissance kind of place. You could paint your walls a dark color. Such as burgundy colors, because it would be accented by a fireplace. It would look very cozy. You could also try conceivably different shades of browns. Hope that helps! :D Good luck! I'm sure when you're done painting, it'll look pretty!
we have a black couch and a fireplace on the wall as well. we chose bungalow gold ingots. its really nice and we always get compliments on it. You can choose any color you resembling. A creamy yellow might be nice. Anything will go next to what yuo have.
Go with a cream or buff color.. for an accent color if you want to see how a darker red would look...
I surmise that would look pretty for it... Get a red that would work with the wood and the fireplace... The cream or beige color match mostly everything. I think a really light pastel-ish giving of color would look great. Maybe yellow or lavendar, also I think a neutral pink would look nice. Good luck!
You have the makings of a great room. The cathedral ceiling will hold the room open even if you paint it a darker color.
I recommend that you choose a dull for three of the walls ( sandy color or a light gray) and then choose something powerful for the fireplace wall. The wall will be broken up by the fireplace so you don't hold to feel overpowered by a strong color.
What do you like? What will flow economically into the adjoining rooms?
Paint companies make it graceful for us by publishing booklets with colors grouped by theme. Collect some of these and see which groups appeal to you the most. Get sample of the wall colors, tape them on your wall and live with them a few days. The colors will relocate with the lighting.
Pick your main colors and consequently use other colors in the grouping for throws and pillows.
There are so many choices today. Find something that thrills you everytime you bearing into the room.
Have fun!
