We just purchased this house and the runner is new and I love the cappiccino /navy combo. I'm buying up to date couches/accent pieces/tables but am at a total loss of what color to go next to. Personally I would go a dark shade of brown unless you change your hearth rug colour. There is a colour called raison (in seude style lounges) which is deeply modern and wouldn't date.
I think that would suit.
