What features of flooring should we use? We have decided to do black and white surrounded by our kitchen....

We have decided to do black and white surrounded by our kitchen. All our appliances will be black, the cabinets are all white, and the countertops are black beside a white design. my question is- what should we do to the floors? would it be to much to have black and white floors? my man wishes to get some pergo wood floors, but we dont know what shade would look good.

any philosophy?!
Answers:    I like the black and white floor theme, however it is impressively contemporary, and you are limiting yourself to stay with black and white in the kitchen. There are black or white pergo flooring choices, but that is to say a commitment you will have to make to hold for some time, since this will not be inexpensive to do. If you decide on the traditional look of a wood floor, I like the Durant beech or Ashton oak. This will look fine next to your white cabinets and black appliances and will still look great if ever you decide to redeploy the color of your cabinets, down the road. A floor color is not something you change repeatedly so make sure it is what you really want and will be happy near for many years.
Pergo sucks and looks cheap...spend a few extra dollars and buy bamboo flooring. It's more durable and looks really nice. In your overnight case, I would probably look at a darker finish but something that is more middle of the road. If you move about too dark, it might look odd near your white cabinets. I would definitely purchase a few sample to that you can bring them home to see if you would like it...good luck I believe that the wood floors would look nice, I would not dance much darker than a cherry finish, to dark will variety the space appear to small. I personally would choose a nice tile or slate. It would give you a better resale importance to your home.
