We haven't decided if we'll variety it a D.I.Y. project, or if we'll hire. We will need to attach heating (or at tiniest we'd like to), and lately recently upgraded our boiler/furnace. The vault is huge, but we'll probably leave a portion of it shortened. Any applicable suggestions/feedback on this is greatly appreciated - particularly time & money estimates from both D.I.Y. -ers and from those who've hired .....
THANKS!
Answers: Decide on a plan first article. After that:
1. Frame in the walls beside studs (metal studs, 2x4, or 2x3)
2. Add all electical circuits and lighting
3. Add plumbing (if you're going to be putting contained by a bathroom, you'll have to put a hole within the floor with a container and a pump to pump it to your normal sewer.
4. Install drywall on the walls. Tape and mud, later sand them.
5. Install ceiling. There are some real nice suspended ceiling out there. Don't meditate you're limited to Armstrong.
6. Install floor. (tile is great on cement. mat is good, Pergo is not too correct for a basement.
If you'll be using the room for entertaining, you'll have need of a wet public house. Make sure you put the bar practical the bathroom, so water and drains can be slickly tied together. Install at least one, but two is better, GFI outlets at the railing.
If you have a generous wall with zilch on it, I suggest a LCD projector TV. I recently installed on of these within the ceiling of a basement. It didn't rob up any room, but the picture was 11 foot diagonal. It was also hi def, but the projector costs much smaller quantity than a flat screen tv. You'll call for special paint for the "screen") If you decide to turn with this, l'll dispense you some resources for where to buy.
Sound. If you're going to own a stereo down there, telecommunication the sound into the walls since you close them up. Put at least 4 speakers around the nouns.
Bar. I'd leave an nouns in the lump for two small refrigerators. One is a normal refrigerator, the other is a kegerator. A keg of beer costs 1/2 as much as regular beer, and if you put co2 on it, it'll stay suitable for a year.
As far as pricing, A contractor will be about 30k, depending on option you choose. Figure on him being in that about 4 to 6 weeks. If you do it yourself, it will probably whip a little longer, 8 to 10 weeks, and cost you nearly 10k, once again depending on the options.
I get lots' of ideas, and I do this sort of entry for a living. If you need abet, IM or email me.
