I'm looking at finishing my basement which requires framing the walls. I see steel joist are about 15% more money, but are much lighter (and will not mold). Are nearby any other advantages/disadvantages to using steel joists to frame the walls of a finished underground store

A joist is a floor member. what you are wondering is whether it is worth using Steel Studs for your underground store remodel. I for one prefer the aluminum for this if you must use metal. A well insulated vault with fitting drainage and moisture mangement willl be better in the long run than steel. Wood works okay and is cheaper. spend the 800 dollars on an engineer earlier you spend the 15000 on materials
