can i put clear varnish over my lamanate floor//??
you can, but why?
laminate flooring is intrinsically tough and will keep its appearance for a long, long time
if you still want to varnish it afterwards give it a muted sanding first to "key" the surface and cart it from there
It will come bad !!! and it will look patchy.
Unless you first sand it down, but then you'll lose the wood guide surface. Any time you put a surface on something non-porous, it comes off....especially on a floor that get constant abrasion.
At least if you really want to tuning the look of the floor, you can take the innovative one up and use it as a template for a new one which you can fit yourself!
Answers: I personally wouldn't, the laminate have a texture which is designed not to be resurfaced. This does not mean to read out it cannot be scratched. With a laminate the colour is part and parcel of the surface which is why if you scantily scratch it the dark mdf core shows through.
If it no longer looks its best, then adaptation it for an easy fitting engineered timber. This is more stable than the laminate or a genuine timber as the construction of the panels mostly ply reduces the movement over the length and span of the wood. These generally own a 3mm wooden top layer which if it get scratched can be repaired and at a later date can be revarnished if you will.
Expect to pay somewhere between lb25 and lb40 sqm for engineered timber. Which is generally glued to your sub floor as challenging being laid as a floating floor resembling laminate. (this means it doesn't enjoy that hollow sound you seize with laminate)
No, as it will not grip, even sanding down will not administer you any long lasting results, as it will scuff incredibly easily! Try a dutiful surface polish instead. You need a complete unusual surface to achieve a upright result with varnish. Have a great morning.
