Ugly Countertops Please Help? I¡¯m renting an apartment and the countertops are like something from the...

I¡¯m renting an apartment and the countertops are like something from the 50¡¯s, I be thinking about covering them up next to this peel on tile for floors, would that work and would it verbs the countertop does anyone have any philosophy on how I could cover them up without running them. Serious answers one and only please.
Peel n Stick tile won't hurt the countertop, but it could be a agony to clean up after removing them when you move out. And you'd want to remove them to bring back your security deposit rear. Of course, you'd not be able to set anything hot on the vinyl tile - whereas the laminate will run a little more bake. Adhesion could be a problem too... some of the tiles may not want to stick to laminate, or may release their hold after some time has gone by.

Seriously, I'd ask the innkeeper if he would replace the tops. If you're good beside tools, you could do this yourself. Something to think around if the landlord balks at the expense. Perhaps you could find them to buy the tops, if you took care of installation, etc.

If I could not procure a landlord to replace the tops, afterwards I'd do it myself, if I disliked them enough. Of course, I'd button the labor myself (I could even make the untried tops from scratch) -- and I'd store the old ones til I get ready to move out, hehehe.. afterwards I'd put his old ones subsidise in, and run my new tops next to me.

In either overnight case, I'd be getting some extimates from local installers, before discussion to the landlord. Get an conception of just how much it would really cost, up to that time approaching the landlord. Find out how much fresh tops will cost, and how much installation would be.

Good Luck
I'm guessing the peel-on would destroy the countertops.
I'm interested contained by reading about an answer to this myself.

In the meantime, I have a landlord once that tolerate me do upgrades on their home - they had to be preapproved and I turned the tally in next to my rent check (if I made an approved $250 upgrade, then I get to write my check for $250 less that month). I benefited because my place looked cooler, and they benefited because someone care about their property (so commonly tenants do not). They get free labor and still got their property upgraded!!!
Answers:    I currently manage an apartment complex and I can share you first hand it is not other affordable to replace a counter top every time someone moves in. However, I found a product at both Lowe's and Home Depot i.e. made for refinishing counter tops. You would need to check next to management first, as they may already know roughly the product and how to use it (it's not for first timers). It is a two part epoxy and can be brushed or rolled on as it is self leveling. I prefer to roll on as much as possible and use a brush for the easier said than done to reach areas simply. I also tape of the entire nouns so the epoxy doesn't get on any other surfaces. I'm sorry but I do not know the baptize of the product, it's been since ultimate spring that I've used it.
I used to work at an apartment community and I am telling you very soon, stick on tiles WILL ruin your counters without a sound out. Have you ever seen the floor underneath where on earth old skin on tiles come off? it looks horrible, and that will be your counter. The closing person be also right, they will NOT withstand the heat if you accidently put a hot pot on your counter... if you put it around your sink the marine that will splash up will cause a mess and a partially. Talk to the owner of where you are renting. Tell them you want to upgrade it and see if they will move about in partly way next to you. See if you can pay to enjoy it upgraded yourself with their approval? I know none of the places I worked would allow for a discount if you required to upgrade it... the other commenter had great landlords if they agree to them do that! Go to the DIY (do it yourself) websites and see what kind of suggestions they enjoy on there as to covering up or upgrading impossible counters cheaply (if you are trying to stay on a budget). Most landlords would probably say "you be happy when you rented it" and purely say you are out of luck, don't transformation a thing. hopefully that isn't the crust with where on earth you are! I hope I helped and Good Luck!
