I went to college for paralegal and i dont really want to do that i want to decorated houses, and my father told me i want a license?
Check next to your state board of licensing. Most states have that information on dash.

If you want to have that available job be your main job, after you probably should get a license. But if you want to do that in your free time and telephone call it a hobby, no license needed! In fact, my sister recently help me redecorate and move furniture in each and every room of my house, and it looks similar to it was professionally done! (If you live in Minnesota, you should nickname her, haha) BTW, my sister never studied interior design or anything - she just has a exceptionally good knack and eye for things like that. I know empire that are licensed that have no talent, and I know people next to no license that have major talent...don't agree to that criteria stop you.look at someones work before you let them enhance your house...also, be careful...most decorators will decorate your house close to they did their own...they like that style if you know what I mean!
Answers:    I'm taking up interior design and let me tell ya'll...it's not as effortless as it looks.

My answer to your question is yes. Most people require designers to hold a license but there are also people who don't look at that stuff. It's a moment ago that if you want to have a license, you have to walk through everything I'm going through plus the board exams----because there is so much more to it than just making a space look aesthetically pleasing. You can bring back hired by firms and design other areas other than residential spaces. (like bars, restaurants, condo's, hotels, etc.)

But if you're not really planning to be serious on making this your occupation, i think you can decorate. It's newly that you might not be able to do the 'big stuff' if ya know what i mean.(you're simply probably restricted to residential spaces)

hope that helps. =)
