The molly anchors were designed for hollow-walls. Is it not detrimental to use them in other types of walls approaching plaster, concrete, brick, etc.?

Answers:    You can't. The little butterfly won't open.

They are ONLY for hollow walls. Plaster is somewhat hollow, and I own used them. Once in a while you'll hit a lath strip, but they are so scraggy they don't cause a problem.
