Teen decorate support! Primary blue mat? I've shared a room all my life and my parents are finally...
I've shared a room all my life and my parents are finally letting me enjoy my own. The one I get unfortunately have primary blue carpet, not navy, primary blue. (the room be previously my brother's room) Blue is my least favorite color and I can't think of anything that would walk with the room unless I got a blue and green counterpane or something (ewww). I like a little bit of a retro matter. Can anyone please help me?
Well, you could try blue and pink. It would give it a bit more of a girly have a feeling, and it would be a fun combination. Get a blue and pink bedspread etc. It would liven it up a lot. Here are some links that would move about with your rug. Good luck!
Congratulations, on getting your own room! Now you can make it your own. I found a comforter set on dash at Target that I hope you will like as well. It is call "Wipe out bedding collection", under the teen bedding section. It have blue, white and lime green in it. You could paint the walls, if you are allowed, a light lime color. Sherwin William's have a shade called "Honeydew" that you may be interested in. A lime colored throw rug by your bed would assist take the focus off the blue hearth rug. Lime colored glass bottles and vases along next to pictures on the wall that have white, blue and lime in them would also coordinate contained by your new room very very well. How about a new lime colored kerosene lamp by your bed. Enjoy decorating you new room! You can do this and it will look hugely nice! Here's the site for "Honeydew". Good Luck!
http://www.sherwin.com/visualizer/ OK, here is what i did to my room. So i was doing that theme too, retro. But my hearth rug was a no go. So i ripped it out, and painted the floor black and white (or doesn`t matter what colors you want) checkered. It looked sooo cool! Then i put some polish over it and it looked like professional! Then if you want you can buy a funky retro rug and put it in the middle! No more dreadful blue carpet problems!
Why don't you ask for a rug, sometimes they can change the whole reaction of the room. Use jewels.
The fake ornaments that you buy from a craft store. Make the room full of color. Accent lamps and use some white flowy sheer curtains on the windows... trim the curtains contained by jewels... (just glue them on). The neutral coming through the window will make the costume jewellery really sparkle.
Buy some small matching multi-colored throw rugs with flecks of blue contained by them .BUT with a dominance of a color you that you really like.
This track the blue will enhance whatever your doing instead of destroying the look of the room for you. You may even grow to like it.
~or~
You could do a tropical room.
You could return with the cheap grass skirts and wrap the bottom of your bed in it like a grass hut. Then label a frame over the top of your bed. (like a canopy) with four poles and a slanted top. Cover with grass skirts to join to the grass hut look.
Then the blue carpet becomes dampen.
Add coral colored rugs.
Add accessories to the walls and window sills of seaside items such as seashells. Or contribute it a cabana feel by adding white the deep scented candles.
For a very cool effect. bring back a large ceramic tray... (very cheap at stores similar to Big Lots or other discount retailers).
fill the tray with sand. Put a hulking grouping of candles in the tray. Scatter small seashells around in the sand. Light the candles to enjoy your own firepit.
Put a fan in the room to simulate a seabreeze.
Add a small tabletop dampen fountain to infuse the sound of water contained by the seaside cabana room.
Paint a large lampshade with oranges and reds and yellows so that the night light coming from the lamp will simulate the sunset on the water.
Decorate the room next to pearls and fake jewels.close to a sunken treasure.
Have fun with it!
Blue and Brown! It goes so in good health together and it is VERY peaceful!

Answers: Bold blue is such a hot color trend right now! Furniture and textile designers are coming out with fabulous new collections and blue is the star! Some great color combos to consider:
Go Bold - Bright blue looks fabulous when paired beside bold pinks and oranges. It's youthful and fun. Choose neutral furnishings, a white cover and then pop the pink or orange contained by pillows and curtains. You'll notice the pops of color instead of the blue carpet.
Go Sophisticated - In Sex & the City, Carrie's current apartment sported BOLD blue walls with sophisticated furnishings and palette. Soft greens, whites and espresso wood tones would make for a foolproof palette.
Embrace the Blue - Black and white bedding, accessories and furniture will be a great neutral palette. The hearth rug will pop more but the color combo is nice.
Tone It Down - If you do want to tone down the blue, choose a sisal (natural) rug. They are cheap and can be found at most home decor stores in tans and browns.
