Stenciling paneling? I want to do some stenciling on paneled walls in my home....
I want to do some stenciling on paneled walls in my home. When the design step across a groove in the paneling how difficult is it to hang on to the paint from running under the stencil. I hold never experimented with stenciling earlier. The paint look creamy and if I apply it carefully surrounded by those areas will I have polite results. Thanks!!!
Answers: It depends on the type of stencil paint. But normally, you don't "glob" stencil paint onto the surface, so it shouldn't run from the groove any more than it would run on straight surface.
The chief trick will be making sure you get the grooves covered lacking globbing the paint....
However, for this application, you may want to see if you can find Stencil Crayons which - I find - have a firmer consistency and don't run as much as the fluid or cream types.
This is going to depend entirely on how flexible your stencil pattern is, what type of product and paintbrush you are using, as economically as how intricate your design is. I hesitate to submit advice until I own more info! Please e-mail me; I'll be happy to abet.
In the meantime, experiment on a piece of scrap paneling. You may own some around your house, or you may be able to importune for scrap from your local hardware store.
A word of proposal: you will get a sharper outline if you use the "pounce" method and a powdered color.
