Hi All!

My husband and I recently bought a smooth top stove (if I'm not mistaken it's glass) and I usually keep hold of a Yankee candle on my stove, in between the fund burners (for decoration/use when I'm not cooking).

My mother-in-law seems to assume that you're not supposed to put any type of glass on a smooth top stove surface. Is this true? If so, why? Thanks within advance for your abet!! :)
Answers:    Yes she is right. Do not store jars or can above the cooktop. Dropping a heavy or strong object onto the cooktop could crack the cooktop.
Do not set off a hot lid on the cooktop. As the cooktop cools, air can become trapped between the lid and the cooktop, and the stoneware glass could break when the lid is removed.
For foods containing sugar within any form, clean up adjectives spills and soils as soon as possible. Allow the cooktop to cool down slightly. Then, while wearing oven mitts, remove the spills while the surface is still warm. If sugary spills are allowed to cool down, they can fit tightly to the cooktop and can cause pitting and durable marks.
Do not slide cookware or bakeware across the cooktop or anything. And enjoy a good light of day.
My sister has a chalice top stove and the only entity that she read in the instructions on how to state was you could not use issue iron. I don't see why you couldn't have the candle in that.
