We don't have the money to hire an fix. We are making an arch opening on a nouns bearing wall on our first floor. It is a two story 1920's home. The first will be 58" inches wide and 78" inches glorious to match the other arch opening. If you picture the first floor as a square cut into four equal spaces, you got (going clockwise) kitchen, backroom, living room, dining room. The merely wall not open is between the living room and backroom and that's unquestionably the one we'll be putting an arch in. The important question is: what is the maximum size of a header to put on nearby (double 2x12, microlam, steel)?
Answers: 2x8's should be fine for that span, two story load.

you shouldnt enjoy to wory much about it since the wall is larger than the initial you want to put in but i would use 2 2/8 and double studs on the sides this will dispense you enough room to kind the arc right up to it
