Siding question...? I bought a house a few months ago that needed some work....
I bought a house a few months ago that needed some work. The wood siding on the exterior is not in great shape. Initially I wanted to use aredi siding but own since realized it would be really expensive. My home was built within 1927 and although I would have liked to put wood or hardi siding, I enjoy since learned that it would be really expensive. Also my neighbor hood is ok, spending an obscene amount of money wouldn't make sense as I don't want to be upside down on my house if I ever own to sell it. Whay types of vinyl siding are out there that are of worthy quality and would be a good choice for me. Is near anything out there that might look similar to wood siding? I would appreciate any help that you could afford me.
Jesus Christ. The most you can do is to hold some contractors come out and show you what they have and give you prices. Some may be higer than others. Vinyl siding is terribly cheap (in terms of quality), IMHO. Every vendor I spoke to made a point of relating me what their policy was on replacing defective panels - moved out me with the impression that nearby are a lot of defects.
If you ask these siding contractors what sympathetic of siding they have on their houses, almost univerally you get matching answer - (vinyl coated) steel. Oh, they all have an excuse when you press them on the issue, but they adjectives have steel.
From time to time it hails where on earth I live, and hail stones can cut the vinyl siding. Alluminum dents. Steel does not cut or dent. Steel used to have a problem where on earth fly poop would bake into the finnish and stain the steel, but now-a-days, they coat the steel with vinyl and it wash right off.
Steel is more expensive than vinyl and may not be in your price field. If you go with vinyl, ABC Seamless is really expensive and high pressure sales strategy - I would avoid them. Go to a home show. Ask the people who install other things (Windows, garage doors, etc.) who they would recommend for siding.
Compared to a fitting quality vinyl siding, Hardieplank is not any more expensive. You should be capable of buy it for approximately $100 per square primed, and perhaps $180 per square prefinished. The cost of installation will be perhaps a bit complex than would vinyl, but, believe me, it is a better finished product. hardi is the only siding you can put on your house that looks like Wood. Termites won't get through it and it won't rot. Wood siding is very expensive too. Vinyl siding will not hold up to heat and sun. It will warp. Jk
Answers: Only my Opinion young lady..don't use vinyl. Actually if someone get you started Hardiplank siding is only 5 or 6 bucks a board. Just try one wall at a time. If you have a friend near a nail gun it blind nails.so simply nail into existing studs. Another is wood shingles.they are slow going on unless you have an nouns stapler..but they are beautiful.You can go 32 to 48" up and exchange styles also...esp. in the entry way..In reality you might do the whole entry in shingles.fashion your self a plan.one day at a time.Paper behind your siding near felt paper for any adjectives water problems..and it also seals out nouns drafts. Hope that helps.enjoy...merely lay the courses out on a lx1 layout stick...so you stay the same all the method aroung on your to the weather exsosure. I call that stick a story pole..it tells you what to do .
