My mom ordered shower doors for her new home that is currently man built. (Measuring off numbers she knew of via the builder/blueprints) They arrived (6-8 weeks later), and the nation (professionals) that are from the co. did not double check the measurements, opened the box and discovered the doors don't fit (too short). The co. won't take them put money on now saying once the box is friendly they are yours. Now saying you will have to buy another set and it will be another 6-8 weeks. What is the best course of motion to take? Is this a normal response? This is a voluminous well known co. that does deeply of business.
The builder is responsible. Tell him to choke up the cash!!
If you gave the company the correct measurements and they made the doors a different measurement, later they are totally responsible and must re-do the doors or give you a full refund. I know the time-frame to re-do the doors isn't polite, but YOU ARE IN THE RIGHT and they must put this order right. If not, you will have a extraordinarily good case to transport to the local Small Claims Tribunal, which I am sure the company won't want to entertain. Be firm but fair when you brand your demands of the company and I'm sure it will all work out in the long run. Good luck! I can individual guess that it's a custom order that will only fit the numbers you give them. If it were a "standard" set then I'll bet that returning it would be no problem. But if they told you that the drive for no returns is the box being opened...consequently you should take action...see the director. As far as taking the numbers from the blueprints...not a good idea. Things come to pass during construction that for whatever reason...doesn't pretty match the blueprint. Always get your numbers from your cassette.
Answers: Unfortunately custom cuts are not returnable. They would have worked with you most possible if they would have been too ample as they could cut them back and not have to trash the door. Measuring is so historic. I ordered a Roman shade that I had measured too short somehow and had to guzzle it when it of course did not fit. I now merely deal with pros who come contained by, measure, and then place my directive. Your mother should let the builder measure and lay down.
