I know I should use treated posts, but although treated is cheaper, I know it tends to warp more etc. SO, is the cedar really worth the extra money? Please, all the info you may want to share would be productive. Thanks.
I use treated post and cedar boards. The chemicals in post are not good for the environment. The price difference here contained by California is not that great. My cedar boards have lasted more than 30 years. I singular treat it when first installed. yes it is, the cedar is also a little easier to maitenance. it will also last longer
I'd use treated for the posts, cedar for the boards. Can you get something save for pine in treated posts? If not, go for cedar posts too. Cedar is conspicuously worth it for the boards. It's light so the posts don't have to hold as much consignment, you can let it weather to its natural grey or stain it to stay hot cedar colour, above the ground it will last a long time. Using the steel poles would even be better and really don't look that bad. They hold up closely longer than treated poles.
Either fence will last as long as you verbs to treat it at least every other year. You can treat and stain it right off...or consent to it age with some color before treating it next to Thompson Water Seal.
Answers: one good reason to use cedar. is it repels bug fro m consumption the wood ... it also out last most soft woods 2-1
it look betters, smell nicer...
treated pine isn't so hot ... it warps to jammy. .it get very dry markedly quickly, and will not stand up to the weather . like cedar
stain the cedar , clear coat it. twice , once a year .
it will finishing a very long time
my screen in porch is made of cedar and it is still wonder full after ten years. I would go near the cedar it doesnt really need to be treated Cedar sounds better
