A few months ago, I had my kitchen counters retiled by a common contractor and just just this minute noticed that near is a large puncture between the back of my sink and the tiles (approximately 1 inch). Any concept on how I can repair? It seems too big for caulking and NO, I can't catch a warrany for the work done (long story :P) Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
THANKS!
you will have to transport a picture, can't tell you what to do if we can't see it
I presume he filled the fissure with grout.
You'll obligation to remove the grout, find some tiles that match what's in attendance and cut them (or have them cut) next to enough clearance to allow grouting space to contest the other grout lines. If your house is prone to settling or if it's in earthquake country, you might want to caulk the pooled between the counter top and the wall using a more flexible material to some extent than grout, which is brittle and may crack.
Answers: Cut out the grout using a grout saw around $3.99 at Lowe's or Home Depot. Clean the area of grout dust & driftwood. You can backfill the crack with rag so caulk would have something to get hold of onto. Use GE caulk or Polyseamfill caulk with Microban.
OR if it really is an inch you can lug some tiles mark the size of the time and go to Lowe's they will cut them for free. Use a touch bit of mastic and press into place. Since the tiles are so close to the wall you can use the caulk instead of grout to fill the one communal.
Good Luck
